Eating Healthy but Not Seeing Results? Check Your Macros

You’re eating healthy, but you’re not getting the results you want. It happens all the time, and the answer is usually your macros.

What are macros?

“Macros” is short for macronutrients: the three places your calories come from.

  • Protein helps build and repair muscle and keeps you full.
  • Carbohydrates are your body’s main source of energy, especially for training.
  • Fats support your hormones and overall health.

Two meals can have the same number of calories but a very different balance of macros, and that balance affects how you feel, how you recover and the results you see.

Carbs aren’t your enemy

Carbs get blamed for a lot, but cutting them out isn’t the answer for most people. They fuel your workouts and your day. More often, the real problem is that people aren’t eating enough protein.

A simple protein habit

You don’t need an app or a food scale to start. Aim for a palm-sized portion of protein at every meal: chicken, fish, lean beef, eggs, Greek yogurt, tofu or beans. It’s a great starting point, and it’s easy to stick with.
